iPad 3 Display Rumors
The iPad 3 has been a huge rumor mill and it only continues to grow as each day passes by. One of the biggest points of interest is the type of the display that the iPad 3 will deliver. There are some rumors that it will be released with a Retina Display, with an amazing 6x higher resolution then the current iPad 2. This seems unlikely, as currently there are no displays that are mass produced that reach that resolution. The closest to it is the Samsung Super AMOLED displays. These have been rumored several times to be the display chosen for the iPad 3. It was even reported at one time that Apple had visited their plant in Korea to negotiate the purchase and production. The recent legal battle between Apple and Samsung may put a damper on this however, as things continue to heat up between the two companies. There are of course also rumors that the iPad 3 may have a similar display to the current iPad 2. I personally don’t believe Apple is sure of the direction they are going at this point. Between issues at their plants after the recent explosion, and the court room battle with Samsung the display is probably up in the air at this point. Screens that boast the resolution that Apple probably wants at the thickness they need aren’t easy to come by. It’s also difficult to produce them in the numbers that Apple will order. This is probably one of the bigger challenges for Apple with the iPad 3.
iPad 3 Connection and Storage Rumors
There have been a few rumors about the possible addition of a USB 3.0 port to the iPad 3. I personally don’t see this ever happening with Apple. They are known to use proprietary connections with almost every product and force the consumer to spend money on accessories. The addition of a universal port just goes against everything that Apple normal does with a product. Although it would be a nice addition, I don’t see it happening. This goes along with the rumor of a possible SD card slot on the iPad 3. This, like the USB port, would go against what Apple does. An SD card slot would deter the consumer from purchasing the higher end models of the iPad 3. Giving users the ability to upgrade the onboard memory would allow consumers to go with the cheaper models and really provide no reason to purchase those with more memory. Both of these rumors are more of a wishlist then anything. It would be nice to have these features incorporated on the release of the iPad 3, but realistically I just don’t see it happening. The final rumor is that the iPad 3 will come 4G enabled. There hasn’t been anything in the way of proof on either side of this argument. If Apple can do it, I think they should. Android tablets are coming 4G enabled or upgradable and is something Apple needs to consider. I believe this may be just one more option that Apple will put on the iPad 3 to increase the number of models to even larger number.
iPad 3 Release Date Rumors
The big rumor, when will the iPad 3 be released. If you remember, I wrote an article listing the reasons why I thought the iPad 3 should be released in 2011. Since then some things have changed, and although possibly a good idea, I don’t see it happening. A shortage or difficultly in getting the supply of displays is one of the biggest factors at this point. That along with the fact that the iPhone 5 has yet to be released makes me believe the iPad 3 will have a 2012 release date. There are still constant rumors of a 2011 release for the iPad 3 however. The newest rumor has the iPad 3 and iPhone 5 being released together this fall with the release of iOS 5. This could be possible, and would of course be huge for Apple. They may be up to something special with the delay of the iPhone 5 and making the announcement of iOS 5 such a big deal. I’m not sold on the fact that Apple is changing the release schedule of the iPad at this point however, and expect to see a release in March 2012.
Who cares what the display is if it won’t even play the Flash website that you are trying to look at ? Get a clue Apple ! There are a lot of PC users that would enjoy the toys that you make, if you made them to work with most things they would be used for.
I have to agree, as much as I love the iPad, why can’t we get flash? Just because you want to protect your stupid app market? Come on Apple!
Yeah, I totally agree. I hate Android but man this is very sloppy. Come on Apple, you can probably destroy android thoroughly if you do this. Just add flash! Or if you want, modify Safari to convert flash to HTML 5.
puffin app for the ipad is 99 cents and allows flash sites to display by connecting to a remote server, works ok, some bugs but when you really need flash it will do the job in most cases.
Flash is not allowed on IPAD because its content is downloadable to a users hard disk via 3rd party add on apps through Firefox and similar browsers. That would pretty much make iTunes and the app store useless and cost Apple major $$$. The ability to download content directly like music, movies, and games off Youtube, HULU, xfininity, and armorgames to your IPAD would devastate the app store and Apple would lose control over lots of stuff.

The PC wild west!!! Were viruses, open source code, and inferior software and hardware products for highest profits rule. Instead of the Apple monopoly called iLife.
